Among amazing temples of Lord Shiva who is said to be the favourite and main deity of followers of Shaivism. The temple which we are going to discuss holds a great importance and became world famous with more significance. Always being worshipped by the devotees. It has been attracting the tourists along with the devotees of Lord Shiva across the world. Although many temples acquired a great fame based on their importance. The temple which we are going to discuss has been resisting natural disasters and floods. It has made the devotees chant 'Om Nama Shivaya'.

Where is that temple? What is its significance?

I have written for you many amazing and surprising facts that you do not know about this temple. The name of the temple is Pashupatinath Temple. This Pashupatinath Temple is built for the husband of goddess Parvathi, Lord Shiva who is worshipped as Pashupatinath here. This temple is located on the banks of the Bagmati River on north-east of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. This temple where Lord Shiva is the main deity who is worshipped as Pashupatinath has been considered as world's most sacred Shiva temple. The devotees from India and Nepal visit this temple. Maha Shivaratri which has a great importance is treated as the most sacred festival. Thousands of devotees visit Pashupatinath Temple which is famous across the world more often.

Non- Hindus are not allowed to enter this temple. They can have a glance from outside the temple. However, there will be no special inspection to check whether the visitor is Hindu or not. Only four priests have the authority to touch the main idol of this temple. This main idol is considered so sacred. According to the tradition of the temple introduced by Adi Shankaracharya, priests of this temple have been recruited from south India. According to the rule passed by Shankaracharya, they banned human and animal sacrifices. The main reason behind recruiting the priests from only South India to perform rituals. Nepal country will be in mourning of Nepal King's death.So Nepali's do not have a chance to perform all the intricate rituals of Pashupatinath's worship. So to continue all the intricate rituals of Pashupatinath performing incessant. The Indian priests perform the rituals here.

History of pashupatinath

In this temple, Goddess Raj Rajeshwari is also manifested along with Pashupatinath. Once upon a time when Lord Shiva disguised as deer and roaming on the banks of Bagmati river. With the intention to see Lord Shiva in his original form, the gods caught the horn when he is in the guise of a deer. Then that horn was broken and got buried here. After centuries, one day a cow came to this place and was found showering milk at the place where this horn was dropped. When a cowherd saw the incident and dug that place, the Shiva Lingam was found. Along with this, according to Nepal-Mahatmya (The Glory of Nepal) and Himavatkhanda book. One day, Lord Shiva came to banks of the Bagmati River from Kashi along with Parvathi. When they were sleeping in the guise of deer.When the gods puled the deer to take back Lord Shiva to Kashi.Deer's horn broke into four pieces. These four pieces dropped there manifested as a four-face (Chaturmukha) linga. Based on the facts of Puranas, with the intention that Lord Shiva has self-manifested here and name it Pashupati. Supus Padeva, a Linchchhavi King built this temple in 753 AD. It is known through the stone inscription found at Pashupatinath temple. Later renovations of the temple were done by Jyoti Malla in the year 1416 AD. King Bhupalendra Malla built this temple in 1697 and gave it the present form.

Significance

Anyone will get surprised knowing the significance of this temple. The two-storied roof of the temple is made from copper and covered with gold. Four main doors are coated with silver. In front of the main gate at the west side, there is the huge golden statue of Nandi with 6 feet height and 6 feet wide. As there is a crematorium beside the temple, it also depicts Lord Shiva presence.
The glory of the temple is so great... Looking at the earthquakes in Nepal and tsunamis occurred in thus temple. Most parts of Nepal were hit and scattered, while hundreds of buildings were destroyed by earthquake. At that time even when thousands of people lost their lives. Surprisingly nothing happened to Pashupatinath Temple. Even when the deadliest tsunami triggered, surprisingly the water stopped at some distance from the temple. The stones, lime, soil and other tools used by the engineers gave more support to the strength of the temple. In the premises of the temple, few pundits perform rituals and solemn for devotees at various sanctums. Here Rudraksha beads are found in huge number. Rudraksha garlands are sold at cheap rates. Devotees buy a Rudraksha garland and give it to the priest, placing it on the Shiva Lingam at the main sanctum, the priest chant mantras and give it back to the devotees.
